With Turkey being in the news frequently lately, we would like to reassure you about the safety of our venue as our attendees’ safety is our main concern at RCIMUN. Our conference venue is Robert College of Istanbul, Turkey. Unfortunately it would be wrong to say that the crises in Syria and in Iraq had no effect on Turkey. Likewise the country is in a state of emergency after the failed coup attempt in July.
Robert College, situated in the heart of Istanbul, is an institution that takes security seriously. The two main entrances one in Arnavutköy and the other one in Ulus, is exceptionally protected with a double gated security system in order to control the vehicles entering the campus are safe. During the conference, due to the fact that there will be a considerable amount of vehicles entering the campus daily, we encourage all participants to arrive to campus as a school. If they are obligated to come on their own, the private vehicles may not be allowed to enter the campus, though there will be a ring service to the main buildings. With security personnel and checkpoints at every gate, the safety of our attendees is ensured. It is crucial that all participants have their badges with them at all times and especially whilst entering the campus. There will be an admin team checking the badges daily.
Especially after the recent incidents, Robert College has updated and tightened its security policies. Entrance to the campus is highly restricted. Considering all the measures taken in order to solve any security issue, we can assure you that Robert College, without doubt, is one of the safest venues in Istanbul.
