Dear Delegates, Student Officers and Advisors,
I am Roy Eskenazi, a senior from Hisar School with coming up to 6 years of MUN experience. So far, I've participated as a delegate, ambassador and student officer in 20 conferences. MUN taught me how to be a leader, an organizer, and most importantly an innovator and entrepreneur. As the co-founder of the second youth association of Turkey, I was proud to have conceived and organized the first MUN conference in Turkish which allowed underprivileged students to experience MUN for the first time. Assuming the position of an executive and organizer in many conferences, I learned to work very hard, lead crowds, meet deadlines, respond to crises and most importantly, think and act quickly.
I believe that MUN is important for learning about diplomacy, politics, cultural interactions and the world's current state. It is an opportunity to gain deep knowledge about other countries, their challenges and conflicts, and how to settle them peacefully; an amazing opportunity to make 'changes.' MUN has changed my life in many ways. It has created different perspectives for me where I can evaluate everything from different angles and thus look at events more objectively. It has shown me that I could work very hard and even make sacrifice for the things that I am passionate about. I've enhanced my problem solving techniques, crisis management and leadership skills with MUN. It has clearly shown that everything starts with desire. Rather than a social activity, MUN has become the lifelong desire for me.
Last year I have served as the Deputy President of the Special Conference in RCIMUN. This year's conference will be my 21st and last ever MUN conference where I will serve as the President of the same committee. I encourage all delegates to take active roles in their committees during lobbying and debating and thus anticipate passing invulnerable resolutions. I hope that by participating in the challenging and constructive debates and by meeting with new delegates from diverse cultures and miscellaneous backgrounds, the conference will be informative and fruitful as well as a way to gain meritorious experience for all of us.
I truly look forward to meeting you and witnessing an amazing conference in April.
All the best,
Roy Eskenazi
