ROBERT COLLEGE AND ISTANBUL:
RCIMUN takes place on the campus of Robert College, the first American school outside the borders of the United States. Istanbul is the leading MUN city in Europe, with the highest number of THIMUN affiliated conferences held annually, and Robert College, with its 65-acre campus and a scenic view of the Bosphorus, is located at the heart of this multicultural city. Historical and cultural landmarks scattered around the campus, as well as the never-ending liveliness of Istanbul, guarantee a memorable trip for RCIMUN participants. We also offer you many chances to enjoy the beautiful campus as well as the city during our opening dinner on campus, overlooking the incredible view of the Bosphorus, through an optional sightseeing tour, during which the participants visit of the most historically significant landmarks such as the Hagia Sofia, and of course during our traditional boat trip on the Bosphorus. .
Since our attendees’ safety is our main concern at RCIMUN, we would like to reassure you about the safety of our venue. Our conference venue is the campus of Robert College of İstanbul, situated in the heart of İstanbul, and our institution takes security seriously. Especially in the last few years, Robert College has updated and tightened its security policies; such as forbidding unknown vehicle entrance, guarding gates with at least three security staff, and not allowing entrance without an unregistered ID. These measures have made the campus of Robert College one of the safest places in İstanbul. As for the city of İstanbul, it is today no different from any other major European city with security measures in place to guarantee the well-being of guests and tourists.
The twelfth session of RCIMUN, held in April 2018, was a great success with over 600 participants from all over the world. As a THIMUN affiliated conference, RCIMUN, with its highly motivated organizer board and international student officer and press team, ensures a smooth process before, during and after the conference through innovative practices such as the online approval panel and online participant system, which in accordance with our green policy helps minimize paper waste. We are certain that RCIMUN will continue to maintain its high quality of debate and the friendly atmosphere among its international participants in the upcoming year. Our aim is to gather enthusiastic participants and provide them a chance to make connections from around the world, enjoy a magnificent city, and engage in quality debates at the same time. We hope to achieve this goal by blending our own experience as an MUN club with your participation, and as a result, creating a productive and enjoyable environment in a peaceful atmosphere.
RCICJ AND RCHSC
RCIMUN has two unique features that run simultaneously with the conference: Robert College Historical Security Council (RCHSc) and Robert College Model International Court of Justice (RCICJ). RCICJ, a model of the International Court of Justice, is an independent court that settles legal disputes between member states. Experienced delegates who seek to further enhance their knowledge on law and want to observe a different approach to MUN are encouraged to apply for RCICJ. RCHSC, on the other hand, simulates a past event in the form of a security council, creating a platform for crisis solving, resolution writing and challenging debates. The main aim of RCHSC is to gather together experienced and dedicated delegates and provide an engaging environment that enables them to think innovatively.
