We would be honored to have your school participate in RCIMUN 2017, which will be held during April 4-8, 2017.

ROBERT COLLEGE AND ISTANBUL:
RCIMUN takes place on the campus of Robert College, standing at one of the best venues of Istanbul since 1863, making it the first American school outside the borders of the US. Istanbul is the leading MUN city in Europe with the highest number of THIMUN affiliated conferences held annually, and Robert College, with its 65-acre campus and a scenic view of the Bosphorus, is located at the heart of this multicultural city. Historical and cultural landmarks scattered around the campus as well as the never ending liveliness of Istanbul guarantees a memorable trip for RCIMUN participants. We also offer you many chances to enjoy the beautiful campus as well as the city through our optional sightseeing tour during which the participants visit of the most historically significant landmarks such as the Hagia Sofia, our traditional Boat Trip through the Bosphorus, an opening dinner on campus and lunches overlooking the incredible view of the Bosphorus.
With Turkey being in the news frequently lately, we would like to reassure you about the safety of our venue as our attendees’ safety is our main concern at RCIMUN. Our conference venue is Robert College of İstanbul, Turkey. Unfortunately it would be wrong to say that the crises in Syria and in Iraq had no effect on Turkey. There’s an influx of refugees, either staying in or passing through the country, however as Istanbul is located in the northwestern region of Turkey, the effects of the crisis are minimal.
Located 950 km (approximately the distance between London and Berlin) away from the Syrian border, İstanbul is without doubt one of the safest cities in Turkey and in the Middle East. In the last 20 years, İstanbul has only experienced three major terror attacks (2003 Istanbul bombings, 2008 attack on the U.S. consulate and 2016 Atatürk Airport Bombing), however these attacks have lead to the reinforcement and the upgrade to the security methods being used. Functionally, İstanbul is no different from any other major European city.
Robert College, situated in the heart of İstanbul, is an institution that takes security seriously. With security personnel and checkpoints at every gate, it is made sure that people feel safe. Especially in the last few years, Robert College has updated and tightened its security policies, making it one of the safest places in İstanbul.
The tenth session of RCIMUN, held in April 2016, was a great success with over 500 participants from all over the world. As a THIMUN affiliated conference, RCIMUN, with its highly motivated organizer board and international student officer and press team, ensures a smooth process before, during and after the conference through innovative processes such as the online approval panel and online participant system in accordance with its green policy. We are certain that RCIMUN will continue to maintain its high quality of debate and the friendly atmosphere among its international participants in the upcoming year. Our aim is to gather enthusiastic participants and provide them a chance to make connections from around the world, enjoy a magnificent city and engage in quality debates at the same time. We hope to achieve this goal by blending our own experience as an MUN club with your participation, and as a result, creating a productive and enjoyable environment in a peaceful atmosphere.
ROBERT COLLEGE MUN CLUB:
Being the first Model United Nations program adopted in Turkey, the RCMUN club has shown rapid progress over the past decades. The club members, ranging from freshmen to seniors, regularly attend THIMUN, Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) as well as six other international and national conferences, serving as student officers and delegates.
RCSA AND RCMICC:
RCIMUN has two unique features that run simultaneously with the conference: Robert College Specialized Agencies (RCSA) and Robert College Model International Criminal Court (RCMICC). RCSA functions independently from the General Assembly and the Security Council, in the sense that it simulates a past, ongoing or future event, creating a platform for crisis solving, resolution writing and challenging debates. The main aim of RCSA is to gather experienced and dedicated delegates together and provide an advanced environment that would enable them to think innovatively. Similarly, RCMICC, a model of the International Criminal Court, is an independent court that tries individuals accused of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Experienced delegates who seek to further enhance their knowledge on law and want to observe a different approach to MUN are encouraged to apply for RCMICC. Online applications for RCSA and RCMICC will be available on our website in the upcoming months.
