Dear Delegates, Student Officers and Advisors,

My name is Paulina Schenk and I will be serving as the Environmental President Chair of RCIMUN 2012. I am extremely happy to be part of this year's conference and hope it will be productive as well as enjoyable for all of us.

I am a junior at Robert College. My interests are quite diverse, though I would not call them out of
the ordinary. With particular focus given to the series Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, I enjoy
writers such as Neil Gaiman, Anne Bishop, Terry Pratchett and Trudy Canavan. I love reading and writing somewhat as well. Apart from MUN I am part of my school's newspaper and the English literary magazine club. Although I generally stay away from sports, I intermediately like skiing and have been skiing since I was three.

Having taken part in MUN activities since my preparatory year of high school, it has become a
significant – if not irreplaceable - part of my life. The reason I value MUN is that I believe we are
provided with the opportunity to develop ourselves with each conference. Though we are mare high school students for one week we get to design a better world or more often simply reflect current political disasters. Either way I think we achieve an awareness that will allow us to shape events in the future more objectively. Until now I have attended nine MUN conferences, of which two were chairing experiences. I'm quite interested in environmental conservation and am hoping to work in a related field later on. Consequently, I could not be more excited about being a part of the Environmental Committee.

I am confident that with right degree of preparation of each party in the conference we will be able to fruitfully debate all the topics and come up with creative solutions to each problem. I honestly hope that all delegates will remain interested in the conference and contribute to the committee to the best of their abilities. Having said that, I cannot wait to meet you all and wish you all a great time at the conference.

See you in April,
Paulina Schenk
