I am Oğuzhan ÇÖLKESEN and I will be serving as your Deputy President during Robert College International MUN on April. I am a sophomore at The Koç School, which is located on forgotten lands of Istanbul. In my spare time, my favorite activity to do is falling asleep on the sofa and I love listening to music, particularly Eurovision. If you follow Eurovision too, believe me, we can talk for hours. This year’s RCIMUN will be my second RCIMUN. Last year, I had the opportunity to experience a Model ICC, an exclusive feature of RCIMUN. After two years of Model UN, MUN conquered my whole life, as even most of my friends are people I met in MUN conferences.
This year’s Disarmament Committee is going to play a vital role in overcoming “The Global Refugee Crisis”. The agenda at hand is covering the protection of Internally Displaced People at the source of refugees, Syria and Iraq, and preventing the recruitment of child soldiers in extremist groups such as the self-proclaimed Islamic State. After discussing the utilization of armed drones during military operations, our agenda will move to a completely different area: Computers. In an ever-developing world, the advancements in technology resulted in having computers everywhere, including the storage of classified information, and we will discover the reasons behind a brand new type of warfare, cyber warfare.
I am overwhelmed by the excitement of being appointed as a Deputy President of Disarmament Committee in the tenth session of RCIMUN. I can’t wait to see you in April.
