Dear Delegates, Student Officers and Advisors,
It is my highest esteem to serve you as the President Chair of the
Disarmament Committee in RCIMUN 2012. To introduce myself, I am a
junior at Robert College who is certainly (apart from also convincing
his mother) going to study abroad. I enjoy swimming, love fantasy
literature, lead several community involvement projects, act and do
MUN. I've been attending conferences for 5 years now and I currently
serve as the Vice President of our own MUN club. I definitely don't
want to sound cliché, however MUN has really become a huge element in
my life over years.
Being a delegate is not the easiest job; I still attend several
conferences with a "delegate" title to observe that the quality of
debaters elevate immensely over conferences. I will not lie: every now
and then when I'm chairing I feel the urge to jump to the podium to
make passionate speeches. Again I will not lie: this wasn't the case 5
years ago.
You will all serve as the honorable delegates of RCIMUN for 5 days and
participate in fervent discussions. Please let nothing hold you back
from speaking up; don't compare your English with that of the others,
because ideas bloom in MUN, not fancy words; don't be reserved, as
your committee is there to support you and listen to whatever you say;
and please have a pre-conference study: nothing boosts you better than
self-esteem of possessing knowledge.
And above all, enjoy these 5 days!
