Greetings Esteemed Delegates,
My name is Julian Veloso Rosales, and it is my honor to be serving as
ECOSOC's president this year at RCIMUN 2012. I am originally from the
Philippines, currently living in Singapore and in the 11th
grade.
I was never that great at mathematics, but I had always excelled in the
humanities subject area. It was that strong interest in that subject area
that led me to come across the MUN club at Overseas Family School. The
whole concept of it, fascinated me as an eight grader and sparked a
passion for exploring the dynamics of global diplomacy, through this
educational medium.
Bursting with eagerness to participate and all suited up, I walked into my
very first committee room as the delegate of Sri Lanka to the Special
conference. Since then, I knew that I wanted to continue and advance my
MUN career all throughout my high school life. This was because, not only
did the issues interest me but it helped me with public speaking, and fast
thinking (when it came to writing meaningful speeches within minutes).
By the time the conference would have come around, my number would be
eleven. Eleven conferences; in a variety of different positions. Namely;
delegate, admin, deputy chair, and chair. These were in a variety of
conferences around the world including; THIMUN Hague and Singapore, as
well as BEIMUN and MUNOFS.
Other than MUN, I take interest in film appreciation, collecting,
shooting, floor hockey, video games, tasty foods, fancy cars, traveling
the world, good clothes and enjoying social activities.
Being a very privileged attendee of this year's RCIMUN conference, I hope
to facilitate your debating to the best of my abilities. As well as
collaborating with my newfound colleagues in the Executive Board Idil
Ozcan, Zeynep Ülkü Kahveci, Cemre Paksoy and Gulmin Cosar. Not forgetting
my deputy presidents; Melisa Bolayir and Kutay Onayli. All of whom I
believe to be equally as passionate and competent as I am. Seeing as we
are all currently working hard on Research Reports for your 'reading
pleasure', which I personally hope you all take the time to enrich your
general knowledge bank with. Finally, I look forward to meeting you all
this April in the scenic city of Istanbul and the beautiful campus of
Robert College.
Till then delegates, take care, stay cool, do your homework, sleep early,
get your visas sorted (should you need them, I know I do), and get
started with your resolutions!
Sincerely,
Julian Veloso Rosales
