Dear Delegates,
I am honored to serve as your President Chair for the Political Committee at the Robert
College International Model United Nations 2012. I am currently enrolled at the John-F.-
Kennedy School Berlin as a junior. When I don't have to stay up late at night, or waste my
precious weekends on homework and projects (I'm sure many of you can connect!), I enjoy
going out with my friends in the evenings and playing football. To stay athletic and fit I
started swimming two years ago, but until today I don't really enjoy the hours in the cold pool
water that much!
Throughout my childhood I visited many countries, including Brazil, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Qatar and Namibia. This was mainly due to my father's occupation as a
diplomat for the German Foreign Service – probably also the reason for my interest in the UN
and global politics.
My MUN career initiated in ninth grade, when I started attending the weekly debates my
school offered. Since then my interest in international affairs and MUN Conferences has
drastically risen. The Model United Nations program offers an amazingly broad spectrum
of interest fields and knowledge for you as delegates, as well as for me as a Student Officer.
Meeting delegates in New York, The Hague and Berlin, I have collected various experiences
and gotten to know many similarly oriented people. However, RCIMUN will be my first
conference in Istanbul and my first time visiting Turkey, so I am very excited to seeing you
there.
Deniz, Ege and I endeavor to support all delegates with the intention of achieving a truly
successful RCIMUN Conference 2012. Remember though, that only with your preparation
will we be able to facilitate a fruitful and controversial debate.
With this in mind, I look forward to meeting you in April.
Cordially,
Christopher Preining
