RCIMUN CONFERENCE INFORMATION
RCIMUN is an international Model United Nations Conference organized by the Robert College Model United Nations Club.
RCIMUN was organized for the first time in 2007 and with more than 600 participants in 2009, RCIMUN has improved rapidly in the last three years. RCIMUN is an MUN conference that strives to stand out not only with its high quality debates and resolutions, but also with its team spirit and innovative organizational approaches.
Our aim is to gather enthusiastic participants and provide them an inspiring platform to discuss pressing global issues. We hope to achieve this goal by blending our own experience as an MUN club with your participation, and thereby, creating a productive and knowledgeable environment in a peaceful atmosphere, in the beautiful and fascinating metropolis of Istanbul.
Being the first Model United Nations program adopted in Turkey, the RCMUN club rapidly progressed over the past two decades. The club functions as an extra-curricular activity and draws a large group of students every year, ranging from freshmen to seniors. The club members regularly attend The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) as well as six other international and national conferences, serving as delegates, student officers and press members.

ROBERT COLLEGE
Founded in 1863 by Cyrus Hamlin and Christopher Robert, Robert College is the first American college established outside the borders of the USA. It is located on the European side of Istanbul, in a campus of 65 acres, encompassing a beautiful ancient grove, extending between Arnavutkoy and Ulus.
Robert College has always aimed to graduate students with an appreciation for and understanding of knowledge and ethics, therefore, it has created an environment that fosters learning and self-improvement. Valuing extracurricular activities along with academics, Robert College provides its students with a strong basis to build on throughout their lives.
Every year, Robert College hosts a variety of activities that give students an opportunity to excel at addressing an audience, debating, and improving their command of the English language. In 2007, RCIMUN was added to this list as a means for participants to express themselves freely while sticking to parliamentary procedures. Every April since then, the campus has hosted this conference that takes UN as its model.
Besides delivering solutions to the ever-lasting problems of the modern world, we recommend that participants take their time to appreciate the beautiful campus, and enjoy the fabulous view of the Bosphorus. The Plateau and the RC Heritage Room are perfect locations where the dazzling panorama lies before you.
CONFERENCE VENUE
RCIMUN 2009 will take place at the Robert College Campus, Istanbul. Situated in the Bosphorus, the campus is one of the marvels of Istanbul and it is also close to most of the popular locations in Istanbul.

RCIMUN GOES GREEN
We recognize global warming as one of the most critical issues of today's world. As active members of the society, we think it is our duty to start taking steps to combat this grave phenomenon. Therefore, RCIMUN initiated a new tradition in 2009 by going green. Starting with our third conference we have decided to organize RCIMUN in an environment-friendly fashion. In 2009, throughout the conference the participants were discouraged from using print-outs unless necessary and recycled paper was provided to participants in their RCIMUN folders. In 2010, we are aiming to increase the use of recycled paper as we have sadly noticed that when they ran out of paper, participants started using plain paper. Our canvas bag sale, displaying the message "Canvas Is The New Plastic", was a big success and we are planning to continue this practice. Also, the must-haves of any green project, recycle bins, were located all around the conference venues and participants were encouraged to use them. Electronic Forms were used for registration and paper waste during the organization phase was minimized. The Executive Board deems it crucial that the conference continues being green and improves its practice. Thus, the green policy of RCIMUN will be carried forward in the following years with similar initiatives to promote conservation of the environment.
